Preparing the IPad for Point of Sale

The point of sale (POS) hardware consists of an IPad, card swipe, scanner, and IPad holder. The software that is used is Shopify.

To begin, turn on the IPad. If the IPad asks for a code, enter '7307'

Select 'Settings' to verify that the wireless and bluetooth functionality if turned on.

Open the Shopify POS app and enter the POS PIN '7307' and plug in the card swipe into the headphone jack.

Look for the 'Card Reader Connected" banner at the top of the screen.

Select the Product Filter and choose the filter to show only the products you are selling.

Connect the Barcode Scanner.

Turn on the scanner by pressing the small black button until you hear the beep sound. Then look for the pop up image that reads "Barcode scanner connected" When fully charged the barcode scanner will last approximately 48 hours on a single charge.

Selling Merchandise and Receiving Payment

(All sames must be processed through the IPad to ensure proper credit to the seller)

There are three preferred methods of ringing-out an item. Scanning, Product Search and Select, or Barcode Look up.

Quick Sale should not be used if there are multiple sellers.  Quick sale does not attach the sale to any product or seller. Quick Sale should not be used.

1. SCANNING

Hold the scanner towards the barcode and press the large button.  The scanner will vibrate and beep upon a successful scan and the product will be added to the cart.

2. PRODUCT SEARCH AND SELECT

By swiping left or right, search the product pages until the product is found and select the product. The product will be added to the cart.

3. BARCODE LOOK UP

Select the Magnifying Glass at the top of the screen.

Manually type in the barcode number until the product appear in the product listing area.  

Select the product. The product has now been added to the cart.

Select Cancel to return to the product listing.

Accepting Payments

CIA accepts Discover, MasterCard, Visa, Checks, and Cash.  Checks must have the address and phone number of the the person that the check belongs to.  It is not inconsiderate to ask for an ID when accepting a check as a form of payment.

1. CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS

Swipe the credit card with the magnetic stripe towards you.

Next you will see that the card is authorizing

Once approved, the customer will be asked for their signature.  Flip or swivel the IPad towards them. They will sign and then select submit signature.

2. CASH / CHECK

Select the total amount in the bottom right of the screen.

This opens the card swipe screen.  

Select "< Select Payment Type" in the upper left corner.

Select Cash for both checks and cash.

Here you can enter the amount of cash you have been given, or accept the actual amount due.  If you do not feel comfortable counting back change, edit the cash amount to the amount you have been given.

Select "Accept $5.00" and the amount of change to return is calculated for you.

CIA only offers email receipts. If a customer wishes to receive a receipt, select "Email receipt.'

Once all is complete, select "Complete order".
