Welcome to campus! CIA residences were built with you, the art student in mind. Recognizing that a considerable amount of personal growth occurs during your college years, living on campus is a terrific way to practice and learn vital skills that will last you a lifetime. Skills like compromise, empathy, teamwork, and communication are just some of the ways on-campus students grow from their experience. My hope is that by the end of your experience, you will have realized some opportunities to practice and gain expertise in these areas. This document have been written to assist students in attaining these skills. They are meant to establish policies that assist in offering a safe, secure, and comfortable place for everyone to live and grow. This handbook and all other written CIA policies are considered to be a part of your housing agreement. CIA reserves the right to alter any policy when it deems it necessary for the good of the students and the institution. This handbook is designed to work in conjunction with and as an extension of the CIA Student Handbook (available at www.myCIA.edu). All residential students are responsible for reading and understanding the contents of both handbooks. After all, it is what you and the Institute will hold students accountable to. Students who violate these policies or other policies of the college or who otherwise engage in actions or activities in the residence halls that are illegal, unacceptable, negatively impact the lives of residents, or are disruptive to the community will be subject to disciplinary action. This may include dismissal from the residence hall or from the college. Please take special note regarding the proper behavior of guests and the prohibition of illegal use of alcoholic beverages and drugs. Questions?
