Quick Guide for Student Requests

Updated on

Starting Point - Intent to Hire

When a supervisor wants to hire a student on der the Federal Work Study program, they would first need to complete the Work Study Intent to Hire survey on Alchemer:  https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/3915099/Work-Study-Intent-to-Hire

The Reviewer's Approval Process

One does not need to have an account in Handshake, but must be entered as a contact in order to be assigned as a Reviewer or Evaluator in order to receive emails and participate in the request & approval process.  Reach out to Career Services to be added.

It is strongly recommended that FWS supervisors have an account for ease of use and tracking.

Timeline

A seven (7) to 10 business day period is given for an Experience Request, once submitted by the student.  All reviewers must complete their responses within that time.

An email will be sent to each reviewer when it is their turn to complete their response.

Reviewers acting as the Work-Study Supervisor will be asked in the survey to affirm the following:

  • Department Account #
  • Details of the Work-Study position
  • Beginning date for student to work
  • Total number of weekly hours for the student
  • Pay Scale

All fields with an asterisk (*) must be completed.  If a supervisor does not know their Department Account #, please contact the Business Office.

At the bottom of the Review, click on the blue box that reads Next: Your Response.

Reviewers have the option to include comments (Reason) when either Approving or Declining the response.  Students will receive email notification on the request progress and provided comments.
