Overview
This tutorial will showcase how to properly greet and assist patrons when they enter the DOC. It will specifically refer to how to handle external/alumni customers when they enter the DOC.
1.) Greeting
When a customer enters the DOC, it is expected that DOC work-study will check who entered the facility and greet them.
The following are acceptable greetings:
- Hello, welcome in...
- Hi, how are you...
- Welcome in...
2.) Check why they are visiting
After greeting customers, you should now check why they are visiting. It could be for a multitude of reasons, such as picking up, placing, or even to ask a question.
The following are acceptable questions:
- How may I help you today...
- What brings you in...
- Are you picking up an order...
3.) Assist the patron
After hearing why they are visiting, try to assist them to the best of your ability.
Steps that you can take to assist them:
- Retrieve their order if they are picking up.
- Charge them out if they still need to be charged for their order.
- Answer any questions they may have to the best of your abilities.
- Ask for assistance from Josh or Javi if you need any, or if they haven't already stepped in to assist.
- If an external/alumni customer is dropping work off, please grab Josh or Javi so that they may assist in taking the patrons work and creating an order.
4.) Farewells
When the patron begins to leave, please make sure to wish them well and ask if they need anything additional assistance. Remember to remain polite, and calm when dealing with patrons.
Additionally, make sure to open the front door for them if they are holding multiple items or if they are someone that needs the physical assistance. Kindness and profesionality go a long way.
